5 WITHIN 50: Dog-Friendly Patios

By

Full-blown Georgia summer has apparently descended a little earlier than most of us are comfortable with, including our furry friends. But that doesn’t mean Fido still doesn’t want to be everywhere that you are!

Eating al fresco in the south is sort of like driving a convertible: the concept is awesome, but in reality it only works well at very specific times. The beginning of spring but before the pollen arrives, for example. After the pollen, but before the summer heat. Once cooler fall weather finally arrives, but before everything starts to die and it gets dusty. Nonetheless, when the perfect moment presents itself, everyone clamors for the quintessential patio dining spot, preferably one that welcomes pups. Check out these dog-friendly patios, and visit The DiG on social media to tell us about your favorite spot to eat with Fido!

MAPLE STREET BISCUIT COMPANY
3550 W LAWRENCEVILLE STREET | DULUTH

Might as well reward your fur baby for waking you up to go outside with a delicious breakfast at Maple Street Biscuit Company. Located in Duluth at Parson’s Alley, Maple Street offers not only patio seating, but to go orders can be eaten literally anywhere in downtown Duluth. Their Squawking Goat biscuit was featured on The Food Network, and the maple coffee will just make you happy as hell.

THE BRUNCH APOTHECARY
2595 FENCE ROAD | DACULA

If you’re more of a late morning eater, then let The Brunch Apothecary in Dacula cure what ails you! While we would never intentionally steer you away from Cajun Shrimp & Grits (we’d eat anything smothered in smoked Gouda), you won’t go wrong with the Pork Belly Benedict or Chicken & Churros Waffle (be sure to share so pork belly/chicken with your fur baby!).

BA BELLIES
6025 PEACHTREE PARKWAY, PEACHTREE CORNERS

A celebration of diverse and traditional fare, Ba Bellies is an Asian gastropub in Peachtree Corners serving locally sourced food and a rotating list of local craft beers. When it’s this hot outside, you need an ahi moment. Ahi tuna, that is – as in, the excellent, refreshing and really quite beautiful Ahi Tuna Bowl. If you’re looking for something a little heavier to share with Fido, please let us introduce you to Bacon-Wrapped Meatloaf.

BRASELTON BREWERY COMPANY
9859 DAVIS STREET | BRASELTON

Craft beer and comfort food on a pet-friendly patio in a neighborhood pub – if you know of a better way to spend an afternoon, we wish you’d tell us about it! The owners were inspired to start their own brewery after a vacation to the Pacific Northwest, famous for being on the forefront of the craft beer movement. Braselton Brewing hopes to provide a venue where pet owners can bring their fur kids and mingle with others like them. No butt sniffing, please.

THREE BLIND MICE
1066 KILLIAN HILL ROAD | LILBURN

Three Blind Mice is a full-scale restaurant, wine bar and a café/specialty market that offers well-made, quality food and drink in a warm neighborhood setting. The best thing about Three Blind Mice (I mean, aside from the amazing entrees) is that nearly every day offers something special and unique: Sunday Night Beer Tasting, Live Music Thursdays, Wednesday Wine Tastings (and half price bottles!) and weekend brunches, including Sunday jazz brunches with bottomless mimosas. Bonus points for teaching your dog how to call Uber.

**This is by no means an exhaustive list of dog-friendly patios! Check out ExploreGwinnett.com and search ‘pet-friendly patio’ for more options! Winston, our Chief Barketing Officer here at The DiG, is especially fond of Strange Taco Bar, Foggy Bottom BBQ and Boulder Creek Coffee near our office in Lawrenceville.
