WE DiG: NEW YEAR’S EATS MADE EASY

By

For brunch with friends

Graft Restaurant in Grayson

Beet Deviled Eggs made from fresh, farm eggs with jalapeno jam. Pan-seared salmon caught right on the line topping a toasted bagel with capers and pickled red onion. Oatmeal pancakes covered with crisp slices of banana. Nearly everything on Graft’s brunch menu is low-cal, and it is all absolutely delish!

Egg Harbor Cafe in Johns Creek and Sandy Springs

Egg Harbor takes traditional comfort meals and uses fresh, organic and locally sourced ingredients to create healthy meals that duo as rich, flavorful experiences! We dig the Dynamite Veggie White Omelette: peppers, mushrooms and spinach paired with egg whites under a cover of fresh, zesty salsa and melted mozzarella. So good!

For the lunch hour

Poke Bar in Duluth, Johns Creek, Sandy Springs and Suwanee

Make your own Poke Bowl at the Poke Bar—all the ingredients are healthy as long as you watch how much and what kind of sauce you include. Pick a rice, spring mix or kale base then start adding ingredients to taste! Be sure to try the sushi, too.

Strange Taco in Lawrenceville

Long Live Taco Tuesday! The veggie tacos at Strange Taco are the perfect mix of savory seasoning and fresh toppings. The portabella mushroom, for instance, includes pico, basil and creamy goat cheese crumbles. You’ll never miss the pork (though they’ve got that, too)!

For date night

Frankie’s Steakhouse in Duluth

Frankie’s has many gourmet, healthy entrees. The Oscar-style Scottish salmon is particularly delightful, served with grilled asparagus and fresh, jumbo lump crabmeat. Other great picks include the sea bass, the jumbo sea scallops and the cioppino—just remember to go easy on any sauces and choose a vegetable for your side.

Aqua Terra in Buford

As at Frankie’s, there are several light, sea-based entrees at Aqua Terra. We want to focus on their Roasted Tri-beet Salad, though—it really is a favorite of ours. Golden red beets, goat cheese, walnuts and shallots top a bed of mixed greens and are accompanied by a tarragon vinaigrette. It’s lovely in its simplicity, and, if paired with a starter like the artisan cheese plate, would more than sate your hunger! Yet being as it is date night, you may as well enjoy the Grilled Applewood Smoked Salmon next, complete with pineapple tomato confit.

For your sweet tooth

mac lab in Duluth

We know the sweet tooth doesn’t go away just because we want it to. That’s why we love Mac Lab! They’ve created a “relatively” guilt-free recipe for decadent macaroons using egg whites and ultra-fine almond flour. When you need just a bit of sweet to sooth your inner beast, you may indulge yourself here! Make sure you try the Unicorn mac—it’s by far the fan favorite.

For a buzz

No need for a listing here! Red wine is good for the heart, so as long as you keep in mind the rule of moderation, you’ll never have to miss out on drinks with the gang again—no matter what bar or restaurant they want to visit!
